An Auspicious 2011 Call To Action of Sorts...
In addition to my New Years Resolutions, and my Not-So-Secret Bucket Lists found here,  here,  here, here, and here…Looking back I haven’t really accomplished enough of what I wanted, so I plan on following suit with working on a few bucket list items to complete in the next year. It seems like even when you cross something off your list, a variation or modification to that item...

A Few Things About My Christmas
A few days prior to Christmas Mama came home to find the tree knocked over rendering it a different shape than it originally came home as and left us a few fragile ornaments short and our star unable to glow.   I gave S his first stocking ever.  All of my gifts still come from Santa. Rio got his annual Christmas portrait taken in front of Grandmas Fireplace. Aspen did not as she refused...

– Maureen Dowd (via kari-shma) My Mama has told me this over and over again. I believe it with my whole heart.

A Bracelet in My Stocking and A Story To Go...
My Grandfather, Mahlon (pronounced May-Lynn) Benson was one of my favorite people, for more reasons than I can count. One of the most profound reasons being he made me believe in love, the way he loved my Grandmother, and the way he loved his children and grandchildren; a love that I would never feel from my own father. Not the fairytail kind, but something that really exists; nothing fancy or...

This Year in Retrospect
January and February were for the birds. I am sure it involved lots of martinis at Elliot’s and plenty of margs at the Rio but I can’t remember. I got deathly sick on New Years Eve in downtown Denver (pictured above) as a result of my gluten intolerance I didn’t know about…Valentine’s Day was spent with a handful of my closest gal pals at the Colorado Eagles Hockey...

Scenes From My Weekend: Pre-Holiday Edition
This last week has been full of fun. These past couple days were for: Playing tourist with my lovely Jenn. Making Faces. Shopping Dreaming about lovely things to fill my home with. Consuming way too many calories with bakery goodness. Drooling over boots I would love to have. Adventuring around town. Baking and Decorating Christmas Cookies. Playing with Ice Sculptures.

Tis the Season for New Acts of Volition
In the spirit of my “Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast” blog, I am working on six new years resolutions acts of volition. (I chose my words carefully here as acts of volition has more determination than resolution.) I also use the word working because I think that these acts will take work and won’t magically happen without some elbow grease. I realize that this is quite early to be...

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined.”
– Henry David Thoreau (via sonsryan) A good girlfriend told me, “Live today and work towards tomorrow, that’s all you can do. Focus on you and it will all come together, we all pay out dues in different ways” And I believe that. My new mantra.

On Healing...
Riding up the chairlift early yesterday morning brought me a revelation. The last few years of my life is really starting to take its toll on me. Years of living in 5 inch heels, and years of carrying overly heavy designer briefcase bags. My body is broken down. My feet and ankles are changed, weakened, hurting. My shoulders and hips are off, and this is only perpetrated by my continuance of not...

A Little Bit of Everything...Scenes From My...
Theres something to be said for your heart knowing things, well before you are even cognizant of what is going on. For weeks I’ve unknowingly been anxious, empty, and heavy hearted, but for reasons that I was unaware of.  Tonight was the first round of the NFR. I missed the perf due to my late-night class schedule, but I found myself rushing to my computer as soon as I could to look at the...
