I thought about it a lot this weekend. what it would be like to be so passionate about something that you’d be willing to put your life on it. everyday. to be remembered not only for your accomplishments but for your relentless dedication.  maybe I am still reeling from the loss of sarah burke. what a beautiful life. what a horrendous emptiness for the skiing community. for the progression of women’s free style. I didn’t know her personally, but a lot of my friends did.  It makes me incredibly sad to see everyone’s hearts breaking. To feel the loss that expands across the world. that fills the cracks. she’s made me think about my life in a whole new way.  what is it that I am working for? what does it mean to really live? I feel as if I have addressed this many times. perhaps I have yet to really figure it out. do we really every figure it out? I’ve spent some time thumbing back through my archives, back through what I consider to be some of my better posts.  not because I felt like they really gained a lot of popularity here, but because they really got at the heart of what makes my life worth living.

for me, it’s picking a really difficult line, in some back bowl accessed by few. pushing myself past that uncomfortable fear that holds me back. I certainly don’t have the skiing privileges that I did last year, but I am making an effort to get out there and make the commute to the mountains when I can. as it turns out, I am finding that passion in challenging myself in new ways too. running further than I did last week. trying yoga + spin. looking forward to climbing my first 14’er this summer. hoping to get into mountain biking.

Following lead, doing something, doing something new, doing something that feels good (really good!), + doing something uncomfortable.
